Abstract:
Registration method unifies some point clouds measured by range sensor in order to reconstruct an artificial building into virtual space. In our previous method we use feature-line matching approach to unify the point clouds obtained by measurement of an artificial building. However, because of matching the feature lines as a silhouette of column, our previous method makes unexpected results from point clouds that contained the column form. In this paper, we propose the column shaft estimation method from a point cloud. The estimated feature lines as a column shaft that is unchangeable line is effective for registration of point clouds. The registration method using this feature lines is able to unify point clouds that contained the column form. As a result, our extended method has improved the column shaft estimation from a point cloud, compared to previous method.
