A 3D Character Tracing Method for Assisting to Make a Measured Drawing of Stone Artifact,
The Journal of JSAI, Vol. 9, No.2, pp. 1-10, (2003).
Abstract:
On utilizing a land consists an archeological site,
the Cultural Properties Protection Law in Japan obliges to carry out
an archeological excavation and to publish a research report of
the archeological excavation. The research report of the archeological excavation
mostly contains measured drawings of excavated relics. Since the generation
process of measured drawings requires a high skill and a large amount of labor,
there is a considerable discussion about the need for streamlining the process.
To generate a measured drawing efficiently,
we propose an automatic method to delineate a part of the measured drawing of
the stone artifact by using three dimensional shape modeling techniques
in which a wire frame model is generated by tracing a character lines calculated
from three dimensional coordinate points derived from a range sensor.
The efficient measured drawing generation can be achieved since the proposed
method automatically extracts feature character lines from surface shape
interpolated by the wire frame model.
